Weight Lifting
Diet
A weight lifting
diet that is worthwhile will have you eating a variety of foods, and put more of a focus on
protein. When you weight train you are trying to build more muscle so that your body will more easily burn fat. You
need to eat a certain way to make sure your strength training weight loss efforts will allow you to reach your
goals in the shortest time possible.
One thing that you probably have already heard is that you need to
eat more protein while on a weight lifting diet. This is definitely true, but how much? It all depends on
how much muscle you have on you, how much energy you are burning, and many other factors.

One important fact to remember is that when you eat protein your body uses
approximately 30% of those calories just to digest that protein. This automatically raises your metabolism just by
eating more protein compared to the ratio of carbohydrates and fats in your diet. Your body only uses about 4% to
5% of the calories from the carbohydrates and fats you eat to digest them. That one fact can make a big difference
in your strength training weight loss
program results.
You will find that a good weight lifting diet will have you eating
many small meals a day with protein in every meal. Your muscles have a constant need for nitrogen. Nitrogen is made
by your body when you eat protein. If your nitrogen levels fall to low your body will actually "eat" off of your
muscles to keep the nitrogen levels up. That is part of the reason you need to eat many meals a day rather than
just two or three.
Another explanation of why you need to eat more than three meals a day is to keep
your blood sugar levels from falling to far. You never want to have a blood sugar crash because not only will it
slow down your strength training weight
loss, but it will also leave you feeling very hungry. Then there is more of a
chance that you will cheat on your diet.
Make sure you are drinking lots of water while implementing
your weight lifting diet, so that your strength training weight loss will continue as it should. Not drinking
enough water can have a seriously bad effect on your body whether you are weight lifting or not.
Many of the toxins produced by hard exercise are flushed out of your system when
you drink enough water. Without a high level of fluids in your body you will feel horrible. Not to mention it will
make your body work that much harder to digest and transport the nutrients you eat to all areas of your
body.
Building more muscle will help you burn more calories in a big way. Bigger Muscles
equal more calories burned, plain and simple. Eating more meals per day and keeping your water intake high will
greatly aid you in your strength training weight
loss program.
